About Us
It started with
a basil plant.
How one wilted herb on a Tampa windowsill turned into a small Florida company that builds practical, fairly priced tools for everyday life.
I came home from a two-week trip.
Florida heat. The kind that makes pavement shimmer.
I dropped my bag, walked to the kitchen window, and there it was — the basil I'd babied for six months. Brown. Crispy. Done. I'd asked my neighbor to water it. He forgot once. That was enough.
I stood there longer than I'd like to admit. Not because of the plant — because of what it meant. I couldn't keep one herb alive without being physically present. And I had a balcony full of tomatoes, peppers, and a lemon tree I'd raised from a seed.
That night I went down the rabbit hole every busy person eventually finds — looking for something between two extremes:
- A $9 timer from the hardware store that breaks in three weeks.
- A $300 "smart" irrigation system that needs an electrician, a Wi-Fi hub, and a subscription.
- A dozen YouTube tutorials about DIY systems made of bottles and string.
Nothing in between. Nothing that just… worked.
I'm an engineer by training, so I did the obvious thing. I started ordering kits from manufacturers around the world.— The beginning of OVIXA
So I started looking.
Korea. Germany. China. The U.S. I tested kits on my balcony, in friends' apartments, at my parents' house across town in Tampa.
Most were junk. A few were quietly brilliant — the kind of products that someone, somewhere, had designed because they'd been frustrated by exactly the same thing. That was the beginning of OVIXA.
What we actually do.
OVIXA isn't a "smart-home" brand. We're not putting your toaster on the internet. We sell a small, slowly-growing list of products that solve one specific problem at a fair price — things that should already exist but somehow don't.
Direct from the maker.
No middlemen. No markup for someone else's logo on the box. We talk to the factory floor.
Thirty days, four climates.
Every product is tested in regular homes across four U.S. climate zones before it earns a place on this site.
Ninety-day guarantee.
If it doesn't work for you, we'd rather refund you than earn an angry review. No quiz, no hoops.
What you can count on.

If something stops working, we make it right. Fix it, replace it, or refund you. That's not a marketing line — it's just how I'd want to be treated.
The basil, by the way, came back.
I tested the irrigation kit on it for four months before I let anyone else buy one. If you've ever come home to a dead plant — or a leaking pipe, or a kitchen drawer full of half-working gadgets — you're who we built this for.
